We have seen a rapid increase in food demand from older residents and recently unemployed workers. In addition, daycare demand for essential workers, including medical staff and first responders, has dramatically increased with the closure of regular daycare facilities.
Upper Valley Strong has allocated financial support to help fill some of these needs. In the month of April, over $32,000 is being distributed to Willing Hands, Bugbee Senior Center, Grafton County Senior Citizen Council, Thompson Senior Center, and the Upper Valley Early Care and Education Association. Results include more food, more home food delivery especially for older adults, and an on-line navigator for essential workers to find daycare.
